The Pros and Cons

Online Personal Training may be the answer for you!

Personal Training is something almost every one of us could benefit from in our quest for optimal health and fitness and in our never-ending desire to fight the effects of aging. The guidance of an experienced and highly qualified Personal Trainer can certainly step up anyone’s fitness level. Unfortunately, not all of us can make such a commitment on a one on one basis. That is why Online Personal Training can be a great alternative.

Pros:

The money factor.

  • Online Personal Training is usually a more affordable option to get the expertise of a Personal Trainer without the traditional one on one price tag.

Flexibility.

  • It is a great alternative for people with schedule or location conflicts that cannot commit to a weekly routine.
  • No specific schedule obligations also mean that there are no missed appointment fees to worry about.

Accessibility.

  • Online Personal Training workouts are accessible anywhere at any time.

No fear.

  • They can be performed in private, eliminating the feeling of constantly being watched by a critical eye (the trainer).
  • There are no personality conflicts to worry about between the trainer and the client.

Cons:

The client has to be self-motivated and disciplined to accomplish their desired goals.

Lack of Fitness Assessments.

  • Contrary to one on one sessions, Online Personal Training does not provide Fitness Assessments such as body fat analysis, postural evaluations or strength/cardiovascular tests to establish a starting point. The baseline assessments will have to be performed by the client to track progress.

Lack of motivation.

  • The Personal Trainer is not by the client’s side during each workout to push just a little bit further and ensure continuous progress.

Lack of Feedback.

  • The Personal Trainer cannot observe and ensure proper exercise technique. (Previous exercise experience specific to the training method desired is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!)

Definite lack of accountability.

  • Even though most Online Personal Training Programs require the client to check in with the trainer at least on a monthly basis, there is no way for the Personal Trainer to know what the client actually did vs. what they say they did.

Before you decide, do your research and find a program that serves your needs. Know what you want from the trainer and how often you require communication. Ensure the trainer is highly qualified and specifically trained to handle your unique situation.
